Instagram Accounts To Follow That Won't Make You Feel Shitty #2

I am the biggest believer in the idea that social media doesn’t have to be this toxic space of negativity, and that you have the complete power to create a feed to scroll that can actually make you feel inspired, empowered, and positive, not anxious or feeling a type of way that leaves you comparing yourself to personalities and body types that aren’t even real. Unfollow the people that make you compare yourself, who hide behind skin blurring filters and follow the people who make you feel good, who you can relate to and I promise, Instagram will feel like a completely different platform. We have the power to be in control.

From my last post in this series (which you can read here), I listed the creators that I truly believe are completely genuine, authentically themselves, they don’t edit their flaws, they say what they mean and their content feels honest, creative and exciting to scroll through! I’m super careful with the accounts that I continue to follow because endlessly scrolling past photos of people who I can’t relate to results in my own cup feeling pretty empty. The feeling of finding people and creators on social media that you really gel with, or who you know are always honest is such an amazing feeling but unfortunately these unicorns of the internet can be difficult to find in a social media sea full of clones (am I the only one who feels like this?).

So! Here are all the people on Instagram and YouTube that get me excited every time they post something new.

@tarmarz

Tara is my absolute spirit animal. She’s Irish living in New York City and is so relatable that every time I sit down to watch one of her YouTube vlogs I genuinely feel like I’m hanging out with one of my best friends. She gives amazing advice across fashion, skincare and homeware in her NYC loft and I get so excited every time she uploads a new vlog. She’s great to follow on Instagram but also make sure to check out her YouTube channel!

@chloeplumstead

My go-to girl for short girl style inspiration. I absolutely love Chloe’s style and her authenticity is so clear to see! She gives amazing advice on topics such as relationships, sex, female health, friendships as well as amazing style inspo and tips on her instagram and her blog www.thelittleplum.co.uk. She’s like the big sister in the digital world and I love her!

@livpurvis

Another amazing girl to follow for not only her style but her life advice. Liv recently launched a book called The Insecure Girls Handbook which she created to help out those who struggle with day-to-day confidence and insecurities. She is just so NICE and I instantly feel happy when I see her pop up in my Instagram feed. She also runs her blog www.whatoliviadid.com and her travel guides are my absolute favourite.

@esteelalonde

My far one of my favourite people in the entire online world, if you aren’t following Estee, what are you even doing! I’ve been following her for about 5 years and I’m still completely obsessed with her to this date. She’s a complete skincare nerd which I love because her product recommendations are always amazing and she’s a big fan of the ‘no makeup, makeup’ look which I completely relate to. I could binge watch Estee’s YouTube videos for hours (click here for her channel) and she also has an amazing podcast called The Estee Lalonde Show where she interviews all kinds of interesting people from a range of industries and backgrounds. If you’re going to follow anyone from this list, let It be my girl Estee.

@jasminedowling

The Australian queen of creativity. Jasmine’s Instagram feed is an absolute never ending treasure chest of inspiration and I absolutely love it. She works with so many incredible brands but always stays true to herself which is something I really admire about her! She jumps onto Instagram stories on the daily to have face to face chats with her followers and gives updates on what she’s up to throughout the day. She’s an absolute babe and clearly such a kind and wonderful human who gives you the major warm fuzzies! Definitely someone who you want to have in your feed.

@icovetthee

Alix’s YouTube channel (click here) is also one of my absolute favourites, she’s not afraid to speak her mind whether it’s about politics, mental health, or a skincare product that she thinks is a bit crap which is so difficult to find these days on social media. Her content aesthetic is beautiful and I’ve loved watching her style grow and develop over the past few years!

@kate.lavie

The queen of cosy “hygge” style interiors. I am obsessed with Kate’s home in Glasgow, not to mention she’s actually a fellow Kiwi! She’s one of those people who do really great, attentive Instagram Story updates on the daily and I get really excited to see what products she’s loving or what she’s currently up to at home. Her blog is amazing and full of relatable, actionable content and she’s also just gotten back into vlogging on her YouTube channel which has made me very excited.

@emmahoareau

And of course, I’ve got to have a skincare queen somewhere in the mix. I’ve learnt so much about skincare by following Emma and look forward to her weekly Instagram Story ‘Sunday school’ series where she picks a skincare topic, ingredient, etc to discuss and share her thoughts on. She’s a huge advocate for skin, mind and body health and shares my love for reformer pilates which puts her in my good books! She also takes the most beautiful film photos and shares them on her Instagram as well as her blog www.lolitasaysso.com.

@karissasparke

I LOVE Karissa’s no bullshit attitude on social media, she is honestly such a breath of fresh air and I really respect that she’s not afraid to jump on stories and discuss controversial topics or talk about her mental health. She’s super creative and great to follow if you’re on a bit of a health kick with her vegan foodie tips and her active lifestyle!

@wishwishwish

Carrie is the ultimate girl to follow for beautiful, fresh content that looks like it was shot in the 70’s. She gives me so much vintage style inspiration and I am completely obsessed with all of her photos from her travels! She posts all of them to her blog www.wishwishwish.net which is definitely worth checking out.
